Isaac Bignell - Biography

Isaac Bignell (Cree) was born in The Pas, Manitoba. He grew up and lived on the Opaskwayak Cree Nation until his early teens. He was devoted to Native traditional ways which included his art, singing, dancing, and drumming. He was associated with numerous native drum groups and dancers. He was the devoted father of three. He passed away peacefully on December 17, 1995 at the age of 37 years from a concussion after falling down a flight of stairs. His flowing clean line art against white and the joy and pride in his birds was his trademark. He is sadly missed in the Native art community.
