Description: Undersea Chief mask signed, carved, and painted by John Livingston on old growth cedar 18"x13"x8". Adopted kwakwaka’wakw in 1965 through a close association with members of the Henry and Helen Hunt family, John began a life long interest in Northwest Coast native art and culture in the traditional Kwagiulth style. He was taught by Vancouver island master carvers Henry Hunt and his son Tony Hunt, Jr. when they took over from the late Mungo Martin as head carvers of the Thunderbird Park carving program at the BC Provincial Museum in Victoria.
