and Crafts of Nova Scotia by Robin Metcalfe |
Eldest of the artistic Naugler boys, Bradford started carving
in 1989 after a stint as labourer and house painter. He quickly
earned the attention of the Art World. He was commissioned to carve
the 10 life sized Fathers of Confederation for the Confederation
Gallery in Prince Edward Island
and his six foot carving
of a black bear was donated to the Canadiana Fund and stands now in the official
residence in Ottawa. He and his brothers Leo and Ransford Naugler were featured
in the award-winning National Film Board documentary Folk Art
Found Me. Their humour and sense of fun
comes through in their art. Bradford's work is included in collections in the
Nova Scotia Art Gallery and
The Canadian Museum of Civilization.
