Jean Larrivée first began building quitars in 1968 from a one
man guitar store in Toronto. He studied under renowned German classical
guitar maker Edgar Mauce. In 1977 Jean and his wife Wendy moved
to Vancouver Island to hand-pick the best woods needed. Wendy did
all the elobarate abolone detailing on the neck . Many guitar collectors
feel he made his best guitars then as he personally supervised every part of the construction
of his acoustic guitars. Within his first year in Victoria he had
acquired a team of 10 craftsman who produced four guitars a day.
Reputation of Larrivée's superior sound and construction soon spread
among name musicians. Today Bruce Cockburn, John Hiatt, John Sebastion,
Leslie West, Peter Yarrow, and Pete Anderson play Larrivée guitars.
All three Larrivée guitars on Redkette are in immacuate shape and
come with a hardshell Larrivée case, all have rosewood back and
sides, solid Canadian Sitka spruce top, and are signed inside by Jean Larrivée in Victoria.
Here is your chance to acquire a true Canadian success story. His
guitars are a life time investment and proof of genuine Canadian
quality craftsmanship. He is now producing guitars in California and continues to be contracted by major U.S. guitar companies to find the best woods for their top guitars. He is recognized as one the best luthiers in the world. Redkettle has various Rosewood and Sitka spruce signed handmade Larrivee guitars for sale from the 1970's when he was based in Victoria, Canada. Contact Redkettle for photos and prices. Thank you.
